My husband and I are headed to Houston in a few weeks to explore the possibility of moving there from Orange County, CA. We have 2 kids who would attend a private religious school near Bellaire if we move so that’s our only location restriction. We currently run a business out of our home, but would most likely rent office space in Houston.

Budget is 500-700k and after years of townhouse living, we would like a yard of at least .25 acre. Are gated neighborhoods a big thing— we’re really tired of getting Amazon packages being stolen...
We are California’s so we are okay with traffic, but I don’t think I want to drive more than 45 minutes each way.

The Woodlands seems like an area we would love, but I think it is too far. Anything similar to the east/ south.?

I’ve done a lot of looking on Redfin and it seems like there are lots of houses for sale, but I’d like to refine my efforts. We would love to live in an area with lots of families who are social.

Thanks!!

You are correct that commuting from TW to Bellaire would be a bad idea.

Use www.har.com fir home search it has a commute tool you can put in the school address and other criteria snd it will show options in your specified drive time. Biggest issue probably the lot size on that budget.

Sugar Land is the closest thing to the Woodlands in community type that is commuteable to Bellaire.

The .25 acre is tough in any of the closer in communities...but not impossible.

If you don’t mind an older house, you’ll find some options that meet your lot size, budget and commute requirements in older neighborhoods in Sugar Land. Look inside of Hwy 6 and north of I-69.

Not really. But we want a backyard and we really, really want friendly neighbors.

We're fine with older homes closer in, but I don't want to spend a million bucks to live in Bellaire and surrounding.

The best option for what you want is Sugarland.

Are the kids committed (have applied and have been accepted) to private school in the Bellaire area? There are other options elsewhere without the commute.
