Chron.com : Burglars hit sheriff's home, steal one of his guns

It's unfortunate that this happened, as I believe all crime is bad, but maybe this will be a wakeup call that something needs to be done about the crime in this area.

Default Houston sheriff home broken into and had gun stolen

I'll bite my tongue and won't say everything I think about this story

Burglars hit Sheriff Garcia's home and steal his gun - Houston Chronicle - Sep. 6th, 2013

Quote:
After burglars broke into his northeast Houston home Friday, Harris County's senior law enforcement officer can now attest to that saying.
"Stuff happens. We'll replace whatever is missing," Garcia said.
He is primarily concerned that the burglars got away with one of his personal weapons - a .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson revolver.
The sheriff's wife came home about 3:15 p.m. Friday and noticed something seemed out of the ordinary.
"She got out of the house and she called the police. She did what she was supposed to do," Garcia said. "I'm really proud of her."
Garcia said the burglars, who remain at large, apparently got into his house after breaking a window.
Houston police officials would only confirm that an investigation is continuing into the burglary.
This isn't the first time the sheriff was a victim of theft at his home.
As he slept one night in 2009, thieves stole the driver's side wheels from his county vehicle, an unmarked black 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in his driveway. The losses were estimated at $1,600.

I wonder if someone forgot to arm the home security system before leaving.

Crime is never funny. Here's to hoping crime fighting efforts will be stepped up.

When someone's house is burglarized in my area, it takes the police hours to show up and fill out a report. I understand that crimes against property arent high on the to-solve list. What I dont understand is why the sheriff thinks that solving his burglary should be handled differently than anyone else's.

I couldn't stop laughing when I read on the internet this comment:
"Sorry guys, you don't help us when we get burglarized, we aren't going to help you either."

Where is the irony. Perhaps the Police showed up 50 minutes after the alarm went off? How do you like them apple sherif?

its actually sad.
he's a leftwing liberal obama leg-humper, if YOU had an unsecured weapon stolen from your house, he'd be first in line to chunk rocks at you and blame it on Republicans.

hes anti-2nd and 4th amendment rights, unless it applies to him.

if you want to see the face of liberalism, he's wearing it.

It is truly sad that Houstonians get burglarized (and robbed) so much and just accept it as a way of life to make comments like that quoted above. When will we wake up and say enough of the crime?

Become having a darker sense of humor is exclusive to Houstonians... The jokes here have nothing to do with accepting something as a way of life.
