My husband and I are torn!

We love Firethorne. We can afford an Ashton Woods home there. We loved the feel of the neighborhood and the activities and features of the whole community. The downside is that it is further out (we both work in Galleria) than where we live now in Sugar Land. To actually LIVE out there... we are ok with. We love the area. Very happy. But the house is the top end of our budget.

Since we loved Ashton Woods as a builder we decided to look at Fieldstone, even though we don't LOVE it as a community. But when we saw the area they are building in, we liked it a lot. We just aren't sure there will be much "community" out there, where in Katy it's guaranteed. We are needing and wanting family activities.

My husband and I obviously want a house we love....and that's no problem in either place. But it's the cost and the neighborhood.

Do we go for cost or community? Has anyone else done one over the other? Did you regret it?
The sales rep in Fieldstone said we get a bigger home for less money. Would that be worth it if we don't "love" our community?

Thanks!!

Firethorne is a better choice hands down.

You have to love the community. No question.

Not even close... Firethorne is the clear winner. Better re-sale value in the future as well.

The I-10 drive will wear on you but the neighborhood you have to go home to in the evening is well worth it.

Buying at the top of your budget to get what you truly want in a home is well worth it in my opinion.
