Has anyone heard of them building a grand parkway town center at 99 and 249? Seems like no one's heard of this before even though it says coming soon in 2015, so I'm just wondering if this is a legit future development.

Yes, it is a legit development. I am not sure about 2015 though. At 123k sq ft the grocery store will be a Kroger Marketplace just like the one the just opened on Barker Cypress and Tuckerton.

Development is already about to pick up because of the Grand Parkway. I wonder why it doesn't have 6 lanes.

just like why Katy Hockley is not expanded nor other high traffic freeways a blind man can see needs widening....build small, you get to hire your same friends to add on for more money down the line...win-win for all corrupted people

anyone with a brain can see the Grand Parkway will grow just like the Beltway...but you build all now and there's no need for xxx construction, engineering, etc. to make more money off another "study" or project...you do it right the 1st time only folks that make money are maintenance people

You're so right, and Katy-Hockley by no means is the only road that needs to be widened a lot more. There are several in west and north Houston that aren't set up properly for the growth they're receiving along their corridor. Fry rd near 290 is going to become an absolute nightmare too.

Funny... Seems like government spending on that Grand Parkway is creating growth and jobs all over the city

In the original plans for Bridgeland, there is a town center planned around the Grand Parkway just south of 290. If memory serves it was supposed to be similar to market street in the woodlands, no idea of current status of the project though.

It will be built in the same likeness, but I doubt they'll be able to draw the same amount of upscale businesses that The Woodlands has been able to; there's virtually no Class A office space or nearly the same amount of volume of wealthy homes out in Cypress. It'll likely happen, but they may postpone production for years if not a decade when there's a lot more housing stock and when Bridgeland is closer to full buildout on the portion of it west of 99.
