I just got a new job in Mont Belvieu. I would like to be closer to town and am looking at the Atascocita area to buy a home. I haven't driven down yet but form what I can see on the internet, Lakeshore subdivision looks promising. I have 2 elementary age children, so schools are my number 1 factor when considering location.

My concern is that there seem to be an abnormally high number of houses for sale in Lakeshore. Is there a reason for this or am I looking too deep into it. Also GreatSchools.org has Lakeshore elem school rated very highly but Wood Creek Middle and Summer Creek High are rated substantially lower. Is this a fair assessment, and if so, does it have to do with zoning, out of district bussing, or other factors.

If anyone can suggest any other subdivisions in the area with similar amenities and possibly better schools, I would greatly appreciate it. Waters Edge also caught my eye but there are far fewer houses for sale. Also I like the Walden area but have read both positives and negatives; I would be open to hearing all opinions.

Thanks,

Guill

Try Eagle Springs in Atascocita. Great schools and a great community with lots of amenities.

Personally I would choose Eagle Springs or The Groves over Sunmerwood, Lakeshore, Water's Edge, or The Bridges.

There are lots of threads regarding all of these communities. I used to live in Eagle Springs and loved it. Fantastic amenties that are actually used by the residents. And I think ES has more amenties than the other communities around. Teams for sports for all ages are formed by the residents, the pools are awesome, and it's just a very family oriented neighborhood. The Groves is just getting started, but it's also one I considered moving to before we ended up getting relocated overseas. I really like their philosophy on keeping the trees throughout the neighborhood, when everyone else is clear cutting.

My suggestion is always...drive through all the noeghborhoods yourself several times. Which one feels like home to you? There isn't anything "wrong" with any of the communities I listed. They all have their pluses and minuses. You just have to weigh what's important to you.
