Well, set your DVR to record Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown Houston tonight at 8PM CST on CNN.

Houston episode of 'Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown' premieres next month - Houston Chronicle

Houston has been rated as the most diverse city in the country:

Houston Surpasses New York And Los Angeles As The 'Most Diverse In Nation' | Huffington Post

Where that can be seen the most is in its ethnic restaurants, that surpass cities like Chicago and San Francisco and rival cities like New York City and Los Angeles, if not beating those cities as well.

Personally, I have eaten at North and South Indian, Chinese, Cajun, Mexican, Vietnamese, BBQ, Soul Food places, a myriad number of burger joints, and even ate at an Ethiopian restaurant once and I don't even live there.

I know a lot of you are always saying that Houston doesn't get its fair due from the media, well now is the time!

Be sure to watch and then report back onto this thread.

Why is a food show airing on CNN? Seems like a show like this would do better on The Food Network or even The Travel Channel.

I feel like Bourdain's show never really fit on the Food Channel because it was most about exploration and travel. If anything his show should be on Nat Geo

Whatever the case, I'm glad that he's showcasing Houston. Y'all must be pumped up. Houston's biggest strength has always been its impressive food scene, now you'll be getting the recognition you deserve.

One of the teasers for this show was Bourdain standing in what looked like Bush Park or something of the like saying that Houston was nothing like what he thought it would be. That seemed to be said in a positive way, so we will see tonight. I'm watching.....

I totally enjoy his shows (not so much his personality though haha). But he mixes in a lot more than just food into his show. Thanks for the post about this coming on tonight.

I think of him as a snob--always trying to show how much more "authentic" he is than anyone else. That being said, I'm happy to see the positive publicity for Houston.

I feel similarly. Sometimes I love him, other times, not. He's definitely a great and interesting host, but so many aspects of his personality come across as mean spirited. His book Kitchen Confidential was good. I think he has a new one out?

Look forward to seeing the show. Thanks for the reminder, OP.

That was wonderful. I like how Anthony explained how Houston got to where it was today. The oil bust of the mid 1980's allowed the real estate to nosedive and immigrants found the rental rates affordable.

I was reading an article that as Houston was spreading outwards, the inner strip malls were becoming decrepit and immigrants were able to buy them on the cheap, renovate them, and thus we have Houston as it is today.
