That's kind of a half ass history lesson don't you think ? It doesn't explain changing demographics of most major American cities that were not dramatically affected by the 80's oil bust.

This was a great story of the several groups he focused on , but he only brushed the surface of what Houston is. But to be fair he only had an hour so some shortcuts had to be made...

Austin is not nearly as diverse as Houston...

LOL I post, "It doesn't explain changing demographics of most major American cities." and your reply is about the lack of diversity in Austin. That's a big miss cBach. Austin is not like most American cities at this time, but in the future it will catch up, don't you worry.

I'm not sure, I think we're one of the only cities in America with a declining African American population.

I liked the show,
I like the fact that he showed three of the largest communities in Houston, Indian/Pakistani, Mexican and Vietnamese
I wish he would have shown nigerians ... but I can see why they showed Congolese, to show urban farming.

From the clips the show looks as though it's going to be great. I guess people just cannot wrap their head around how international and diverse and how big Houston really is. They go off the narrative that it's a honky tonk city.

My husband travels often and he raves about Houston's true diversity and amazing food scene. We are native San Franciscans who moved to Portland, OR after being in NYC for a long time. We LOVE FOOD! It's great to hear that Houston is getting more media exposure since Portland gets almost too much exposure.

Yes and I bet many on the East Coast and West Coast were quite surprised by what Houston has in the terms of ethnic communities.
