My problem with cops directing traffic for big churches (or companies, sports arenas, etc) is that because they are paid by that venue, they are incentivized to prioritize those leaving/entering the venue, rather than to keep ALL traffic moving at the highest average overall speed.

I've never seen traffic stopped for 20 minutes, it may feel like it but it usually isn't more than a few minutes in each direction. Laying on the horn is just an anger management issue and serves zero purpose. I've seen casinos do this during rush hour. The galleria area often hires officers during the holiday season. It isn't exclusive to churches. The Toyota center does it after sporting events and concerts. If it's an event you are attending, I'm sure you'd have no complaints if it helped you merge efficiently into traffic

What did you expect with an alias of "3dogsnokids"?

Lol thought the same thing. Post history is fairly dramatic as well.

And drivers ignore them.

A couple of wrecks as frustrated drivers try to deal with no control, and you'd be insisting that these churches hire cops.

"I got stuck in a traffic jam for thirty minutes because of a wreck as people exited a church parking lot. It's insanity, they need to pay for traffic control!"

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I have no quarrel with using off duty LEOs. I just want to be able to get out of the subdivision and get to my own church.

But, the church is paying so the parishioners gets priority.

The faster the parking lot is emptied, the faster the cops get home.
