It's Katy. You should have evacuated Wednesday.

My salute to Eric.

The benchmark is the april 2016 flood. Search that and the areas that flooded. The forecast is worse...lets hope for the best.

Katy might actually be one of the hardest hit areas when it comes to flooding. According to the current path of the storm. As far as wind is concerned Sugar Land looks to be the area that will be most affected. None of those are worth evacuating for. Just have plenty of food and water and you'll be fine.

The Brazos river is going to become an OCEAN over the next 24-48 hours, from Waco on down.
I wouldn't want to be within a HOUR of the thing . . . .

STUPID. Katy is in Fort Bend County. We are past the strike zone. You do NOT have to worry. You shelter in place. You do NOT evacuate and don't listen to this stupid stuff. It is NOT funny when people are concerned about the storm. PedroMartinez you should be banned. I am beyond mad about this. This is NOT a time to joke around. It is in such poor taste.

You listen to the news, hook up with weather apps or whatever you have to listen to the news. Harris County was told by Judge Emmett today (Friday) at 6 PM that there are no evacuation orders for Harris County. He was standing with the mayor, chief of police, metro, and a bunch of other county and city officials. I'm posting that if anyone missed it.

Now Katy is a mix of three counties. I can tell you that Cinco SW has excellent flood control. We made it thru IKE there in zip code 77494 -- And unless the new 1093 extension messed up the flood control, it shouldn't be a problem. Hunker in and stay safe!

Listen and stay up to date. This is a rain event. We are far enough inland that the winds aren't as strong. We are out of the 'danger' zone. Keep up with the tornado watches. There are other threads here on Citi-data dealing with Harvey and some good tips on how to prepare and wait out the storm.
