I thought about this and am finally bringing it up. I realize various school districts have damages from Hurricane Harvey. I am in the Katy ISD District and there was mention of separate monies for damaged schools.. . . And my thought is.. . Don't our schools have property insurance? Flood insurance?

I have no problem with schools getting fixed but with these bonds and voting this month, I did wonder why the cost for this is brought to the tax payer once again.

I don't think I've heard one word about flood insurance / property insurance on schools. Thoughts?

There are usually big deductibles, so the district would effectively be self insured up to $X million, then insurance pays the next $X million, then it's back on the district.
