As the title states are Harris country workers allowed to carry a weapon on the job? Before you get wound up, I have a reasonable line of thought here. Some jobs require workers to go solo into wild (unimproved locations) areas where there could be threats from a pack of wild dogs or "other". Common sense would dictate at least a stick to keep a pack of dogs at bay.

Just curious.

legally... yes

but it doesn't mean you can legally keep your job either if your employer thinks otherwise

A stick might be OK, but I doubt any other weapon would be permitted, unless it's part of the job.

I was looking at a job listing. It would send a worker into all kinds of areas. States clearly that there are potential risks with wildlife and potential chemical exposures. Proper PPE is good for chemical. I was wondering how to go about possibly packing on the job. I wouldn't apply if I did not think I can protect myself from snakes and dogs. 2 legged rats is way down the list but threat is still there.

I wouldn't worry about wildlife, etc. I have a friend with a ranch that has feral hogs, coyotes, snakes, etc. He only carries a firearm when he is hunting. If you make enough noise, the wildlife leaves. Snakes will slither away if at all possible, and if you aren't well trained, it's pretty hard to hit a snake with a non-shotgun firearm.

Typically state, federal and city jobs forbid you from carrying a weapon. As a former state worker after a coworker was held hostage and nearly killed we were permitted by the commisioner and governor to carry pepper spray but they wouldnt cover the cost

Kinda what I was thinking. I have a licence. I am pretty fearless. Snakes are number one worry. Pepper spray would give some comfort vs 2 legged rats. I was thinking a nice walking staff/stick for the rest.
