It's interesting to me that Randall's was once the go-to store for grocery shopping in Houston. I just moved here and had no idea it was a grocery store! I didn't know what it was lol. Just goes to show one might not always be on top.

The former Randall's space at Westheimer and Wilcrest has been taken over by Whole Foods.

At one time Randall's had three stores on Westheimer between Gessner and Dairy-Ashford (Gessner, Wilcrest, and Dairy-Ashford), which was really too much. Probably what we have seen in the last 10 or so years in the shuttering of Randall's locations was just too many locations built too close to each other. Another example, up where I grew up, there were Randall's on Champion Forest Drive at Louetta and at FM 1960 - anyone who knows that area knows how close those cross streets are to each other. The Louetta one is now a fitness center.
