Riding In Houston (Pasadena, La Porte, West: sales, home, restaurant)

Anyone enjoy leisure driving in Houston? You get on a freeway and just ride for miles. I've driven on 45 N all the way to the Woodlands, then turned back around and hit 45 S to Pasadena. Then, I took 290 all the way to Carmine and back into NW Houston. My next target is 249, then ride around 610. Sometimes, it's good to get out of the hustle and bustle of H-town and see the countryside.

I think the driving up 59 is better. Less crowded.

Naw, too much gas, unnecessary wear and tear on my truck, and too many bad things could happen like flat tire or engine problem. I'd rather stay home Youtube and google map street view places.

I did it, almost all directions. I like driving, and if I am not in a hurry, it's quite enjoyable...

I love driving, although I limit my leisure driving to off hours and late evenings, so as to not encounter too much traffic. My favorite drives in Houston tend to be focused on certain roads/streets. Here are my essential Houston drives:

--Memorial drive into the city from the west (you should start at least as far west as the beltway, so you can see the mansions, and then the park and then city).
--Gessner, starting either at the north end or the south end and taking it almost the whole way.
--Long Point from Gessner on the west to Silber on the east end (Westview is nice for this distance as well).
--Westheimer, from Montrose in midtown all the way out to the beltway, at least.
--59 at night under the lighted bridges in the midtown area.
--I don't go southeast much, but since I'm a fan of the country singer Steve Earle, I've taken a couple of drives down Telephone road.
--225 from the 610 to La Porte, just to see the scope and scale of industry.

There are certainly many other great routes. I hope others share too.

Why Longpoint? Nothing but auto shops, tire shops, used car sales lots... although my favorite Korean bbq restaurant, Seoul Garden, is on Longpoint and Blalock.
