Well, currently what I pay in tolls is ridiculous...so that would not change. However, there are van pools to both pearland and humble that are subsidized by the company I work for so it would actually be cheaper

If you want to be near deer park and downtown, not wanting to be on 45 to downtown puts you at a huge disadvantage and wipes out a lot of good areas for you. Any other way you try and get there will be lots of traffic as well. Traffic is everywhere.

If we were open to taking 45 to downtown, what are the areas that you would suggest? I’d appreciate the info. Thanks

The Clear Lake area, in CCISD, is on I-45. I'm not sure of the reputation of southern Pasadena ISD (Dobie HS and Memorial HS) but it might be worth looking into?

There are parts of Pasadena near Beltway 8 @ Fairmont Pkwy that fall within the Deer Park ISD and the neighborhoods are nice and the schools pretty well regarded. (Check out neighborhoods zoned to Fairmont Elementary which is 8/10 on Greatschools.)

You would have to put up with the "snob response" from people who sneer at Pasadena and Deer Park so you might not want to pay that price, but you would sure have a lot more time at home during which to prepare your own "snob back at ya" thoughts! Good luck!

We lived in the Vista Villas neighborhood of Pasadena (very nice area) when my daughter was in high school. She actually attended Kingwood HS one year (because my wife was still teaching in Humble ISD) but she decided to move to Pasadena Memorial HS since she had met so many people there and that is where she graduated. Vista Villas is probably more popular for empty nesters than it is for families with small children - and even Pasadena Memorial appears to have seen some pretty large decline in white enrollment. (Probably more from families aging in place than from white flight.)

HAVING SAID ALL THIS....I would temper my enthusiasm for the Fairmont area of Deer Park ISD if it is at all likely that you will be job changing again. In that case you might wish to put up with a longer commute! Summerwood (Humble ISD) would be a reasonable commute for both of you (over the Beltway ship channel bridge to Deer Park).

Some parts of the City of Pasadena even extend to the Clear Lake ISD area: Robinson and Brookwood elementaries are in the Pasadena city limits.

I would highly consider bay knoll, northfork, bay knoll, pinebrook, bay forest areas of clear lake. Close to 45 and super easy to both bdeer park and downtown.

Another vote for Deer Park. Great small town vibe & friendly people. If it's good enough for Andy Pettite....
