Did something happen with US59 IH69 construction near Galleria where the soul sucking traffic suddenly became much more bearable?

Morning commute into downtown has been much better than expected all week and evening commute southbound suddenly became better today after sitting through hell Monday & Tuesday.

This commute has totally sucked since June. Did something change today, or was this just a lucky day?

I'm on 610W loop southbound during rush hour with probably 100K other cars it seems. Worst traffic in months so far this week. It looks to me like it is mostly due to the 610W loop southbound traffic exiting onto 59S getting backed up until almost 290 and CRAWLING the whole way south. I just wanna keep going south towards NRG area. Its driving me nuts! I still contend they should make an over/under 610W loop that is 8 lanes going north and 8 lanes going south.

It's always bad during rush hour and still is. My point was that since June through this Tuesday, going 59S from downtown past Galleria was still soul suckingly slow at 7pm, 7:30pm, even bad at 8pm, very late until the last two days have been much more tolerable after around 7pm.

Look, yes, the West Loop is at or near capacity much of the time. But is double- or triple-decking really necessary? There's been folks advocating for that for some 30 years now, at least. Think of the expense, construction disruption, elevated noise pollution, and ugliness. Plus, where would all the traffic from those 8 lanes go when the freeway shrinks down again?

Default Thank John Culberson

Thank John Culberson for the traffic mess. He created most of it. The poir folks who suffer through hours of delay are victims of corrupt politics and they may never know it. This is not an innocent mistake.
Yes, a lot of your frustration can be pinned to a few friends (and financial contributors) who didnt want Rail coming through their neighborhood.

the intersection will always be bad. They don't plan for the next 50 years, just the next year.
