Hello,

My wife will be starting a Job in Beaumont and we would like to know best areas to live between Beaumont and Houston downtown. I prefer to make a longer drive. So a location that is a little closer to Beaumont is preferred. Thanks

There is nothing between Houston and Beaumont. It's pretty much a wasteland of rice fields and small towns with little to recommend them.

Thats harsh.

Mount Belvieu would be the most obvious one. Winnie is much smaller, but could work. Anahuac is a off the interstate too much.

Mont Belvieu has a fair bit of new housing and nice community amenities. A number of people who buy there do commute to Beaumont.

OP wanted the wife to have the shorter drive, so Mont Belvieu is probably out. There just isn't anything between Houston and Beaumont. I've made that drive a number of times, and have seen just about everything there is to see.

Probably Mount Belvieu or Baytown. Watch out for the "Sundown Towns" the closer you get to Beaumont and avoid them.

They are beyond Beaumont toward Louisiana.

If prioritizing Beaumont is the goal shouldn't there be a couple newer communities coming to Liberty County, especially between Dayton and Crosby or Liberty itself. Mont Belvieu is the obvious, but of I-10 isn't the only place you should look at. If your looking at Mont Belvieu then Crosby, Lake Houston and even Atascocita could become an option, not to mention 99, through Baytown opening places closer to Cleveland and Porter up.

You will never hear "best places" and "between Houston and Beaumont" mentioned in one place....ever again. LOL
