Default N. to S.

Is the traffic bad enough in Katy that you wouldn't want to live on the NE side if you work on the SW side?

Default Living in Katy...

I currently live in Katy, south of I10. Personally I think the south side is nicer. Cinco Ranch being very nice to live in, however a lot more expensive than others. My son attended Katy schools, and for the most part we were very happy with them. (West Memorial Elem. & Jr. High, and then Katy High School.)
I believe housing on the north side is less expensive, and there are a lot of businesses there.
If you are commuting to Houston, I would get a toll-tag ASAP. The Westpark Tollway is much faster than I10 (if you live on the south side.)
There is also a lot of housing along Grand Parkway (Hwy 99), but that will become a toll-way someday.
Good luck in your search!

south of 1-10. I second Cinco Ranch. It depends on your price range, but there are really nice large homes there.

The Cinco Ranch area is quite nice(south of I-10), with various price ranges,
depending on community. Of the high schools in Katy, the best ranked is Cinco Ranch HS, having gotten an exemplary rating. Next best is Katy Taylor, close to the Nottingham Country homes, which are nice older homes off the very busy Fry Rd. This school also serves the upscale subdivision known as Kelliwood. Katy High School is the third best rated and mainly serves the older part of Katy and the communities north of I-10.

There are more grocery stores on the south end too-HEB, Kroger, Randalls; also lots of mid-range dining options.

Cinco also has a beach club and mulitple pools. Of course there is a mandatory yearly fee.

Hi,

I am writing a story about buying/selling in Katy in terms of foreclosures. Is there anyone who recently bought or sold a home or is in the process of doing so and would be willing to be interviewed? I am looking at how the foreclosure market may or may not have affected your experience. If interested, please e-mail marhud54@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Go with Cinco Ranch, if it is out of your price range Pine Mill Ranch is a great option... or if you're willing to go to Fulshear, go to Firethorne.

The Katy area is by FAR the best you will find all around houston. I moved here 3 years ago from Atlanta and am very happy. The best place to go for schools is the Cinco Ranch area, however a brand new high school, Seven Lakes High school (where I attend as an upcoming junior) is definately the best, nicest, and safest katy isd school (and that being a non biast opinion). Cinco Ranch will be recommended to you as the best katy isd school, however it is older and has the biggest drug problem in katy area.
