Glenda Dawson High School

South boundary is Bailey (CR101)
East Boundary is Manvel (FM1128)
North Boundary is Arbor Drive (?)
West Boundary is 288

However, all of PISD will be open for choice in 2011 unless the school you want is overcrowded.

I live in Pearland west of 35. I like it quite a lot. We are in a good subdivision and we are zoned for Massey Ranch Elementary which just achieved IB certification. There will be a gifted magnet school starting up next year. My grandkids are only in K and 3rd grade though so this doesn't make a difference to us at this point in time.

I find the people in Pearland to be friendly. They are good neighbors for us mostly. We have only been here 4 years though. My ds works in Pasedena and the commute is not bad at all. Lots of my neighbors work in the med center area or in the museum district.

I've seen both and SugarLand seemed much better -- more established, zoning, less country and much more upscale. Even some historic elements. Pearland was going to build a town center where there were statues but the concept failed. As far as traffic, there were two ways into town from Sugarland; 59 and 90. Pearland only had 280 or whatever it is.

I thought PL was more developed than what it is. I've seen several posts describing it as rural and country feeling. I thought since it is bigger than SL, it would seem more "city-like."

The Pearland Town Center is already built not where the statues were, but on 518 just west of 288.

The anchor stores are Barnes and Noble, Dillards and Macy.

Pearland has 35 and 288 depending upon which side of town you are on.
The east side is more country, the west side is more suburban - middle class and upscale depending on the subdivision (but somewhat cookie cutter, imo)

Pearland is growing and is no longer a little farming community which it was only 10 or 15 years ago.

Sugarland is nice and if it were not for the commute time to Pasadena we would have ended up there because of my dil's wanting a bigger Indian Community than the one in Pearland and which is more like her parents in their cities of origin.

The east side of Pearland is more country feeling. The west side has a more city feeling. This is due to the fact that most of the growth has taken place near 288. Note that several of the subdivisions on the west side are not part of the city yet. They are still in the unincorporated part of Brazoria County served by MUDs rather than the city and by the Brazoria County Police rather than the Pearland Police Department. These MUDS will eventually be incorporated into Pearland, but they are currently not on the agenda to be taken over for a few years yet.

That's interesting. For me, it was weird just reading you guys say that Pearland has a country side since it's bigger than Sugar Land. I'm learning!

Westwood Village is on the East side of Pearland. No, it is not zoned for Dawson HS. Their association meets at the Pearland Library.

The part that is more country is closer to Friendswood.

Hasn't Pearland surpassed the 100,000 mark?
