We are looking to purchase a new property and the front portion of the driveway is gravel. The total area is maybe 200 sq. ft. Anyone have an idea of the cost for a contractor to remove the gravel and pour a 5" reinforced concrete driveway? Also if anyone has a referral for Far NE Houston (Kingwood) area contractor I would appreciate it.

I assume you are speaking about the inturn are off the street. Is this in a city and/or Harris county?
8-10 is way to much, most contractors would be more like 5-6 per ft. Unless you are looking to have the gravel hauled off which would be a "per load " cost on top of the concrete price.

I don't do these small jobs but I may have a guy who would I will need to ask hi
. He does good work but not sure it he works in that area.

Normally, I'd agree that $5-6 / sqft is on target. But it's such a small job, I think he'd be lucky to get someone out there to do it for $8.

How many sq. ft. would be considered "worth the trouble"? We are considering tearing back the asphalt a bit farther.

thee is really not a good answer to this question, it all depends on the contractor and what they think is worth it. for me i would need minimum of 800-1000 sq ft to consider. there are mom and pops or maria and juans (how ever you like) out there who do a good job but dont care insurance or adequate insurance (we care 2,000,000 minimum, plus 1,000,000 on autos.) they work out of their home (nothing wrong with that) and they have 4-5 guys (most relatives) who work for them. (i have including all subs about 100-200 guys these days and over 300 before the crash, my brother does work for me lol)
