Hi all!
My hubby and I just moved to the Heights about 2 weeks ago. I interviewed for a position in Pearland on Monday. The interview was at 2 o'clock so I didn't really get to see what the rush hour traffic is like. I would be working M-W 8:30-5:30 and T-F 7:00-5:30 or 6:00. I still have one more interview for the position and I am still applying for jobs in Houston, but I just wanted to know if getting a job with that commute would be a mistake? My husband works in The Woodlands and says his reverse commute isn't bad. Thanks in advance for any advice!

well if you take some "back roads" or for that matter take 610 around, it will not be terrible but if you go the 288-59-45 downtown area IT SUCKS! that area is the worst traffic i have run into with the exception of MAYBE 290 and the beltway area.

Funny. My husband has an office in the Heights and we live in Pearland. What part of Pearland, would you use 288 or 45?

You should be fine. The traffic is heavy going the opposite direction. Its about 21 miles from the Heights to Pearland. You will probably encounter some traffic going to work near downtown, after that it will be a breeze.

I10 going from Heights toward Downtown will be difficult but after that it should be easier because you will be going against the normal traffic pattern. Going home shouldn't be bad either until you get past downtown. You also have the tollway if you would like that option. Beltway 8 runs right by Pearland though I am not sure where it hits off of 10. Hope that helps!

thanks everyone! I go back for a second interview tomorrow and I think I'll stick around Pearland so I can do a trial run around 530.

wow you and your husband must be racking up serious miles on y'all's cars!

I would suggest just living in Pearland.. but your Husband works in Woodlands... tough

I think the only problems you will have for your commute is getting on 288 but other than that it should be somewhat smooth sailing.

Probably about 30 minutes as half your travel will be opposite of traffic.
