Friendswood is not a big notable suburb. It has a town hall, city park, one HS, a few churches and a police and fire station on Main Street. It is not a sprawling suburb like katy,SL or Woodlands.

I'd go with Friendswood, although it too is getting swallowed up in the sprawl and making your way in and out of there is a bit of a chore. There are a lot of people who want to live in a small town and work in the big city and it's hard to have both at the same time for long. Pearland was once like this, but turned into basically another Sugar Land in the course of 10-15 years, thanks in part to the growth of TMC.

The biggest downside of Friendswood is there isn't a very direct route to TMC. There's a lot of driving either way to 45 or 288 to get into Houston. FM 518 through Pearland or FM 528 toward Clear Lake and 45 can be a mess traffic-wise, with a lot of construction that isn't going away in the short term. There's some actual character in the town itself though, not everything is a giant subdivison and you'll be able to recognize your house from your neighbor's.

I don't know about Arizona, but it's hot here and kids still play football, even doing preseason drills in the middle of August. Keeps the college and pro ranks full of tough ballplayers. Friendswood HS has a quality program too.

Meadows Place is a tiny city between Sugar Land and Houston. Very small town feel (because it is a small town - less than 1 sq. mi.). Very community oriented - especially if you are involved in little league baseball.

Kingwood. It has the best traffic flow of any of the major MPCs into the Med/Downtown area.

Cypress?? No way. Nice area, but to get from there to anywhere is a pain in the butt....and to get to the Med Center with a sick child? No way.

I work at TCH and live on the west side of Pearland. It takes me between 15-30 minutes to drive there and back home each day, depending on the time of day.

I do agree that west Pearland feels more like Sugarland, but there are parts of Pearland that still feel like a small town.

Sugar Land and Pearland do not have small town feels. Missouri City or Kingwood would do.
