Hi! I'm moving to Houston very soon and need a place to rent either temporarily or long term. I'm looking for a room to rent in a 2/2 apartment as I prefer to have my own bathroom, and furnished. That's all I need 2 get settled. I'll be working and going to school so will be a very busy person. Please let me know of any leads or any sites I could visit that has available listings. Thank you!

Where's your school? What's your budget and how large/nice apt do you want?
Try www.apartments.com to look for one and www.apartmentratings.com for opinions from tenants.
And try www.houstoncrimemaps.com to check out safety of neighborhoods. In houston, one block may be heaven while the next is not so safe.

You might want to look on craigslist but always be careful and watch out for scammers. Good luck and be safe in your search

You do not say where you will be going to school, how long you would like your commute to be, or your budget. If you are looking for a room, the best place to look is at your school's offices. They usually have post boards for room mate situations.

Thanks for the comments. I'll be going to UofH and would like to live within 5/10 miles of there. I prefer the West side including near the Galleria area.

Try 3000 Sage or Homestead Suites for short term furnished apartments in the Galleria

There's a good apartment complex inside the loop, quiet neighborhood, good maintenance & quite affordable, trash & electricity in included which is a huge bonus. One bedrooms run at about $ 600-650 depending on the built-up area & location, more for poolside, first floors, etc. I think they have a special going on so do ask for that. [mod edit 10 post to link offsite] They also hv more apartments close by on Bellaire Blvd. which is also a good area. Communities around are decent with older houses & apartments (old & new), about 10 mins to the Medical centre, abotu 25 mins to downtown & its 8 miles to Uof H & there are bus stops just outside the complex. Its not gated though, but no major safety/ violent crime issues. Good luck!
