My friends and I were having a conversation about the best steak we've ever had. We're from all different parts of the country -- heck, even a Canadian. So our tastes and experiences regarding steak are very different. So that got me thinking...if you had one meal for free, where would you bring an out-of-state/country friend for a nice, juicy steak in Houston and the surrounding suburbs?

Now I lived in Houston for the first 18 years of my life before moving out, and I've had some darn good steak here. My vote would go to the Filet Mignon at Taste of Texas. It's amazingly tender, and when you add garlic butter and bleu cheese to it, it's simply heaven in your mouth.

I'm not particularly a huge fan of fatty steaks, so my next vote would go to another Filet Mignon at Perry's Steakhouse.

The best is the one made by ME. It took me 20 years to master it and I got really good at it. Ribeye, Filet Mignon you name it...

Any restaurant that serves real wagyu or kobe steak is best in my book.

Care to share the recipe. I'm trying to improve my steaks so this will work out perfectly!

The best steak I've ever had has not been in a restaurant, but by a home cook.

Does anyone have an opinion on Smith & Wollensky?

Salt and Pepper and a good cut of beef is all you need to make a good steak.
