Hello everyone,

My husband will be taking a transfer from NJ to Bellaire, TX in the near future and we are looking into neigborhoods, schools, traffic patterns, everything. We have 2 kids the youngest (6) is autistic so we need to look into schools that are familiar with that too plus speech therapy, etc. Katy looks good from what I see on line, I'm not sure I understand the "Katy" area. I think I need a list of what areas go to which schools, or maybe a map would help. We are planning a trip just to look around in late June.

Any suggestions? Will have to squeeze a lot into 3 days. Thanks

I'm not very familiar with the soutwest side, so I can't be of too much help there. But if you want to see a map to get your bearings, you can to to google maps and type in Bellaire, Texas, then zoom out to get an idea of where it is in relation to Houston at large.
Katy is definitely a possibility, as it is just off I-10 west, and the schools there are first rate. But I hear the commute on I-10 is a nightmare during rush hour.
Anyone out there live in Katy or that general area?

Here's a link to a map of the area school districts in Harris County (that's the county you'll be in), with additional links to the school district websites. Unfortunately the map does not show major highways to help you orient yourself. Katy, and Cy-Fair are both good districts, and Spring Branch is good overall. Although there are pockets of good schools everywhere, I would steer away from Houston and Alief. Hope this helps.

You'll find Sugarland is a quicker commute to Bellaire than Katy.
