We are looking to buy a house in 77079 zip, and Fleetwood seems to fit in our budget and also has some lovely homes. How is the neighborhood in terms of investment/growth in the future?

Fleetwood is nice but never really appreciates because the schools are KISD & not desired. My friend tried selling a BEAUTIFUL home there for eighteen months & had to take a loss to get a buyer. The schools & location (near Hwy 6) are why you can get a large, attractive and well built home for little money. Study HAR and you'll see these homes are slow moving.

I thought KSID was a good district and Wolfe Elementary zoned to Fleetwood is ranked exemplary?
Maurice L Wolfe Elementary - rating and statistics - - HAR.com

Could you elaborate? Are there other issues?

It's just not a desirable school for people in this area. Many people in Fleetwood use The Village School. I know it's Exemplary now, but it's been one parents have avoided for many years. Have you toured it & studied it's history? I'd also suggest you drive around Fleetwood on a Saturday & ask parents why they don't use their public school much......they can give you the best answers. The middle & high schools are way down I-10 in Katy, so most Fleetwood parents don't really like that commute for a school.

Wait a few days on your post & see if some Fleetwood parents will respond. I'm down by the Beltway in SBISD, but I know several families there. None have used Wolfe.

I looked up the ratings of other schools zoned to Fleetwood, they seem nice as well.

I don't know about the school and such, but I do know they don't appreciate much if at all. The person I know have kids that are grown up and moved there after they were out of school. It's safe and nice though. I often see a patrol car around the neighborhood when i go there...i think it's paid for by the HOA?

Well, I have to offer a different POV. I used to live in Fleetwood, on Foxgate Rd, when I was a kid, and my parents loved it. My sister went to Wolfe back when it was "Addicks Elementary"....so I might be a little biased on the area. We have really good friends who live on the south side of Thornwood (west of Eldridge) and their kids went to Wolfe. They absolutely loved it. She couldn't understand what all the fuss was about among some parents that refused to send their kids there.

I'd go check out the school, talk to parents, talk to neighbors...don't do anything you aren't comfortable with, obviously...! Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input. We don't have children, but schools seem to matter in terms of resale/appreciation, hence the questions.

How would you rate Westchester and Thornwood subdivision in contrast?
TIA

The issue is probably more at the high school level. Mayde Creek is not considered as good as Stratford. Westchester will get you into Stratford.
