I don't miss the weather but I miss a lot of things about Houston. I grew up in Houston and had some of the best days of my life there! I still have family and friends living there and I am comfortable when I visit since I know Houston like the back of my hand! I really think that has a lot to do with the missing... knowing the city so well. It is little things like having the same hairdresser since 6th grade. The same car mechanic for 20 years. Texas BBQ! Knowing the best restaurants, gyms and medical care to go to when needed. The Texas Medical Center. Cafe Caspian. The view of downtown Houston from Allen Parkway, Memorial Drive or heading towards the Pierce elevated from 45 south as the sun is setting! The night view of the downtown Houston skyline. Knowing how to get around town without a map or GPS.

Mostly what I miss are the funny, kind, intelligent, "crazy good", and diverse PEOPLE that I met along my journey in Houston! Things like that are what I miss about Houston.

It is my home and it was a great city to grow up in and spend 43 years of my life in. I am proud to say that I am from Houston whenever asked here in California. I boast about Houston to whom ever is interested in knowing about that great big city!
Switch out a few little things, like Tex-Mex instead of BBQ, cities lived in, and our ages and... yeah, that, what he said!

I have moved to the outskirts of Austin after living in Houston for almost all my life. I miss the fact that I knew where things were and I am having to relearn a new town, but I wouldn't move back to Houston. I had horrible allergies and the humidity was horrible. I also like Georgetown because there are plenty of trees and hills.

I've heard that Houston makes a person's allergies act up.

Interesting. People like you (in general) live so superficially therefore they're on the move all the time. No matter where they go there are no belongings or attachments, or sense of closeness. Maybe it's better that way?

I miss Houston only because I have my family there and miss going on my boat.

I've been in Austin 39 years and am moving back to Houston as soon as some circumstances allow. I can sum it up by saying that, to me, Houston is extremely interesting and fascinating at every turn. Austin is a great place for many people, but I'm very bored. Austin is too predictable; Houston changes by the day. That's what I like.

Really? I'd hope I struck hard enough to hit the grey matter in hope of stimulating some responses to the 'ignorance' area.

@A&M did you rep me?
