Huntington Bank donates $500,000 to MU's Innovation Hub. Some highlight's from the article:

Quote:
Huntington Bank’s West Virginia President Chad Prather said he has never seen the type of momentum and opportunity that exists currently in Huntington.

“It takes vision. It takes leadership. It takes collaboration, and it takes investment,” Prather said Wednesday during the bank’s economic outlook breakfast at the Marshall Health Network Arena Convention Center.
Quote:
Toney Stroud, vice president of strategic initiatives and corporate relations at Marshall, said the university has opened the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation and has acquired a building for med-tech startup companies on 5th Avenue.

“We’ll be able to nurture some of these entrepreneurs there,” he said.

I haven’t heard. It said it was on 5th Ave so I’m guessing it would either be in the 1000-1200 block or possibly one of the old buildings from the BASF facility. They have been doing some power pole work in the BASF area so not sure if that would be related or not.

According to Alligator Jackson on Facebook, the old Goodfellas Barbershop building smack dab in the middle of the 4th Ave Innovation District is leasing its apartments and commercial space. It was scheduled for demo this summer.

Marshall owns the 4 lots to the left of it, as well as the two lots to the right of it. This building is the only one they do not own.

I'd imagine that the owners of the building were probably wanting too much money for it. I'm sure they will just work around it or possibly use eminent domain to get the property. It's amazing how often greed gets in the way of progress.

What will take the place of Laidley Hall? I didn’t know if they already had plans in place.

I don't think that there are currently any plans that have been released. I'm sure that they have something in mind but are only in the early stages of figuring that out.
