Yeah there has been talk of a minor league hockey team possibly coming in, but that is still just talk. Marshall and WVU has hockey clubs that play each other from time to time, but those are universities (Marshall is the one in Huntington). Both of those clubs play in where else...South Charleston.

If you do end up moving to Huntington despite lack of ice rinks, your husband could certainly join in these efforts. Or he could simply just go to Charleston periodically to play.
Though it isn't anywhere near Huntington, Wheeling, WV has WV Hockey on lock down. They have a AA minor league team with a few rinks. I'm fairly certain that they have youth programs as well.
