Do any Hsv City or Madison City schools offer Pre-K?

It looks like a couple Madison County ones do.

I know there's plenty of private school options out there, I was just curious what the school systems offered. If they do offer them, what's the details? How do you apply? Do you have to pay for it? etc. We won't be elgible until next school year, but am just thinking ahead since we're planning to move to either Hsv or Madison before the little one starts school.

Thanks!

Huntsville has Pre-K for special needs/early intervention at a few select elementary schools. The classes are half special needs and "typically developing" children. They are free, but the "typically developing" children included in the class must be free of any speech, social, or behavior problems in order to best serve as models for the early intervention kids. The programs also get wait-listed very quickly, so if you are interested, you should get your child's name on the list ASAP. I don't know of all the programs, but I believe there is one at Hampton Cove and one at Weatherly, at least.

I would suggest contacting the Pupil Services of the two school systems.

I know Chapman Elem. has a pre-k too. Keep in mind this is a 8-12 M-F program, with the usual school breaks. I was considering it too, but for full-time job like ours, it wouldn't suit our needs, finding after-school arrangements would be another hassle- time, transportation and money.
I tried to find the info on their website and I couldn't, it was there last year (albeit buried in a pile of other registration info, but I couldn't retrieve again for this post). So I'll tell you from what I remember: the child has to be 4 on Sep. 1, there are limited spots, and they assign them by a lottery-type drawing.

IIRC in Madison, Maddison and West Mad had pre-k.

Thanks.
I'm guessing this is meant for low income families based on the school choices.
