Over-rated,

Jersey Mike's is much better.

Just my opinion.

When I was in college there were only two Jimmy John's: the original right across the street from campus, and a second one up the highway right off the U of I campus (where they are now headquartered). The proliferation of JJ's from that humble little college town has been a pleasant surprise. It was quite popular with the student body, and I presume it still is. To call themselves "gourmet" sandwiches is a bit tongue-in-cheek as is the rest of their schtik. Their sandwiches are very simple, basic, no-frills items, but they do simple, basic, no-frills sammys as good as anyone in the business.

Gourmet is something of a stretch...

I eat at Lenny's a lot. It's usually very good, although if you eat anything often enough you are going to notice some meals just aren't as good as others.

With that being said, I will definitely be going to JJ when it gets here.

As for Jersey Mikes, I am a fan, just not of it's location or parking lot! haha

Jersey Mikes is great but it's way over priced.

They are pricey, that's for sure. But when you compare a $7.00 Roast Beef Footlong from Subway to a $9.95 Large Roast Beef and Provolone, or even a $11.95 Giant (which can feed two people with lesser appetites), consider that their meat is better quality and cooked on site and the price isn't totally out of line.

And the other posters were right. The Jimmy John's "gourmet" tag is part of their schtik. If you really read the menu it's pretty clear and "explains" where it came from.

Personally I'll eat at all three places (JM's, JJ's and Subway). It just depends on what I'm in the mood for, my appetite and how close to payday it is.

I really like Momma Goldberg's - and I'm not even an Auburn fan. I've never tried Jimmy John's.

I like Firehouse the best and you can't beat 120+ soft drinks from their soft drink dispenser. Pretty cool and steamy hot sandwiches. Great combo!
