Coming from MS, I think you will be happy with the quality of schools in this area.

@UpNorth1,

Which schools do your children attend? My plan is to start visiting schools and from there determine an area to look for homes. I live in a place where the entire county is great and it doesn't matter what side of town you live in. Looks like Huntsville is different.

Thank you

We live in "Madison" but our kids go to Huntsville City Schools, so watch out. We live 2 minutes away from Endeavor but our kids have to go 15 minutes away to Providence. The demographics of Providence are so poor that they now have free breakfast and lunch for everyone.

Curious what subdivision is 2 minutes away from Endeavor but is considered "Madison." We live right between Endeavor and Creekside but are in HSV / Limestone CO. My daughter goes to Providence and so far we are happy with it. It meets our needs.

Because he doesn't live in "Madison" yet he may have a Madison mailing address just due to the fact that his address is serviced by the Madison post office. There are many subdivisions in that area that do, most are south of Capshaw.

Heritage Brook is one example. Legendwood also has a "Madison" address yet is in HSV city as does Laurenwood Preserve and Cross Creek.

That is a prime example why people should NOT look for homes based off the mailing address OR zip code because that does not guarantee they are in Madison city or zoned for Madison city schools. If you are north of 72 you are NOT in Madison city.

I understand all of that. I was just trying to figure out what subdivision was two minutes away from Endeavor with a Madison address. I wouldn't consider any subdivision south of Capshaw to be "two minutes away." I'm an engineer.

Of course, if one did actually live in Madison, they wouldn't be going to Endeavor Elementary anyway...

In Mississippi and much of Alabama below Birmingham, going to a private school is "normal."
It is not normal in North Alabama.
Most public schools (not all, but most) are fine.

I would assume the best thing would be go to the school and give them an address we have in mind to ensure we are in the correct school district. We plan on visiting schools first and then from their determining an area to live in.

Thanks

Yup, that was us. We assumed we were buying in Madison since it had a Madison mailing address.

We live in Laurenwood Preserve. Endeavor is 1.7 miles away from us. 3 minutes per Google Maps.
