Hello everyone. My wife and 10 year old are moving from Florida to Alabama and are looking into the Merdianville area and trying to gather as much information as possible. It seems a like a growing upcoming area within 15-20 minutes of Huntsville. Would anyone recommend Merdianville as a top choice? Thank you in advance.

Yes, better get in line to buy, houses are going up fast and furious. It’s basically a bedroom suburb with basic necessities and a 15- 20 commute to downtown, a little longer to Redstone

Lots of new houses being built in Meridianville at several price points. They'll like the area. Pretty good schools as well from what I've heard. The Fox Run golf course was sold and closed in order to build houses where it was.

The northern bypass extension should make Merdianville even more attractive.

Didn't Huntsville annex some of the area - the county schools might be preferable.

The city limits basically stop at Bob Wade (future in name only northern bypass). All of Meridianville, New Market, Hazel Green are Madison County Schools

The Toyota plant, Aerojet, Facebook data are just north of Bob Wade and also in city limits.

It's not a bad place in general. Definitely growing fast. As an unincorporated area in Madison County you'll pay less in property taxes and such. But that also means a lack of many services and infrastructure that folks in incorporated areas enjoy (septic instead of city sewage for instance). Also being in a fast growing unincorporated area without zoning and city ordinances can be both good and bad. When we lived in the county I always had a saying about it. It's great living in the county where your property is your own and you can do what you want with it. The problem is your neighbors can do whatever they want with their property as well. I've often wondered if many of the up and coming suburban areas of Madison County will ever choose to incorporate (Meridianville, Hazel Green, Harvest, Monrovia, Toney, New Market, etc).

Thank you all for the great info. Does anyone know the around amount of tax savings of an unincorporated area? How are the schools and is there good little league baseball in the area?

What I found was that the increase in homeowners insurance due to it being volunteer FD and county police offset my savings in taxes. The property taxes are really low here anyway.
