You beat me to it. I've been thinking all week to post a reminder of "Friday's coming...", and today I forgot it was Friday...until I read this. I move to read the news now. Wow!

My son goes to Sparkman Middle. We just got an update automated call from the school a few minutes ago. The latest word is that they returned to a normal schedule at 11:15am. No gun was found on school premises, but one student was found with a knife and was removed by the authorities. School is on a normal schedule with no early dismissal planned. The Principal, Mr Blair, stated he is VERY PROUD of the several students that made the administration aware of the possibility of a gun being on school property.

I'm beginning to think that all Madison county schools might need to take an hour or 2 from their busy days to hold a seminar in all schools emphasizing the importance of reporting potential issues like this discreetly so as to prevent any reprisals from the perps or the perp's friends. This past month has not been a good one for schools in Madison county at all levels, and I think they may need to address what might be a growing issue. Our children deserve to be protected and we need every one of them to use their eyes and ears to help protect each other.

Thank God for watching over our children today and preventing another senseless display of violence. Maybe we should take this as a warning from Him about our children.....
