We are shopping around for a high mileage commute vehicle which has a comfortable ride....and cheap.

Wife's 4.6 2009 Genesis is a very fast car but now we want mileage. We are looking seriously at the Mazda 6 and the Hyundai Sonata.

Any owners out there want to comment? Would appreciated your reviews.

Okay well here's my opinion.....

I've had 2 Mazda 6's and my wife's got a Miata right now.

I ruled out even considering another Mazda do to problems getting warranty work done.

Final straw was when the service Manager said: "Well Hyundai would cover this no problem, but Mazda won't".

Personally after owning multiple Mazda's and driving Hyundai/Kia's....Hyundai actually makes a better car...for less... with a better warranty.

While I like the new Mazda 6 from a styling perspective, I've been hearing a lot of negatives on Mazda's reliability/service over the past few years as well. You might have a great experience but its good to keep this in mind.

The Sonata has been a great car and the new for 2015 redesign should be better in every way. It's definitely something to take a hard look at.

The current generation Ford Fusion looks good too but reliability isn't too hot right now either.

If i were to get a mid-sized car, I would get a Ford Fusion. We have had almost no problems with our Ford, and the few problems we have had have been fixed very quickly. The engine is the same.

I currently own a 2009 Ford Fusion SEL but I've heard numerous issues with the current generation car (transmission issues, engine issues, interior rattles, multiple recalls, etc). I'd have to wait until they hit the used market with a decent number of miles driven to evaluate long term reliability.

I heard bad things about one of the Sarasota Mazda dealers, but I'm not sure which one.

The new Accord is a great if bland car! The Camry is probably close to the bottom of the list for me, just above the Malibu.

I have a 2012 Sonata, but the new 2015 model is supposed to be greatly improved when it comes to steering feel and road noise, the seats look more comfortable too. Most of the little quirks with my car were solved by the '14 model year. I can easily get the rated 35 mpg on the highway, and if I keep my speed down to 60 or so I can get up to 37 mpg.

Downside to Sonata is the radio is horrible (FM & XM) in the base model, it may be better in the Limited though.
