skittles2u, just popping in to agree with banjomike's description of "desert". My husband and I just got back from a vacation to northern AZ. We spent a couple of days at the Grand Canyon (first time for both of us). We went to a ranger program and he asked the group what was the largest desert on our planet? No one guessed correctly. It's Antarctica. I know there's no "hot" days there. Thought that was interesting and just wanted to share for fun.

Yeah, desert just means somewhere that gets less than 10 inches of precipitation per year (on average).
