Saw this article someone posted on Facebook about a guy that got bit by a rattlesnake shopping in the garden dept. of WallMart. Gotta watch what you grab apparently. Sheesh. I see a HUGE lawsuit coming and a nice retirement fund. LOL they can afford it.....

CLARKSTON, Wash. (AP) — Mica Craig was shopping in the outdoor garden department of a Walmart in Lewiston, Idaho when he thought he saw a stick lying in the aisle.

He reached down to pick it up, and discovered his mistake when the stick — which was actually a rattlesnake — latched onto his hand.

The 47-year-old Clarkston, Wash., man says he started screaming and managed to shake the snake loose at his feet before stomping it to death.

The Lewiston Tribune reports a bystander drove Craig to a local emergency room. Craig says he was treated with six bags of anti-venom and has been told that his hand may be permanently disfigured. He was bitten on Saturday and said doctors expect him to remain hospitalized until Tuesday.

I'll bet the snake was local and crawled into the greenhouse area all by itself. Many store greenhouses attract field mice.

That is exactly what happened, Banjomike. They are fairly common in the area.

Not in northern Idaho, just the central and southern areas

Not even central Idaho, really. Just around Lewiston. It is much lower and warmer than the rest, making it attractive.

And, just to nit pick, this event didn't actually happen in ID. People should be freaking out about SE WA.
