What good does it do though if they can't prove that the employers "knowingly" hire illegal workers and the illegal workers only get fired but not deported?

E-verify needs to be implemented across the board so that the employers have no excuses and rather than the illegals just being fired they need to be deported.

Boy do i agree with you latter part. E-verify sure does need to be implemented across the board for all employers to have followed. No excuses for hiring illegals once it is implemented across the board for all employers to follow. Illegals should be deported, and thos hiring illegals, should be thrown in jail and fined! Make an example of those who hire illegals and the consequences of doing so.

I learned on the local news, when listening about the recent bust here in Orlando at the VA Hospital, that even if E-Verify is used, it is ineffective against illegal immigrants using stolen identities. The employer claims to have used E-Verify. Sad news on one hand, good news that they found 9 individuals hiding from them.

E-verify has a 96% accuracy rate.

If they fire and don't deport, what good does it do? They'll just find another job. I'd rather have auditing AND deportations.

That’s true, but unfortunately, illegals are using stolen “valid” SSNs. E-Verify can’t differentiate between an illegal using a stolen SSN, and a legitimate employee, unless illegals use their names in conjunction with the stolen SSN, which they have been instructed NEVER to do. Of course, it doesn’t help having an absurd law which absolves them of the crime of SSN ID theft if they claim they only “borrowed” the SSN to work, and didn’t “knowingly” steal an identity.

Our photos are required on our driver’s license, and states have implemented numerous measures to mitigate fraud. Likewise, our SS card should contain the adult photo of the card bearer, and should also include fingerprints. The current card is much too susceptible to fraud.

Exactly! You would never hear of the DEA removing drug dealers from a stash house, but failing to confiscate the drugs. Yet, ICE will raid a business and prosecute the owners, but allow the illegal employees to remain in this country. In some instances, they have even assisted them in obtaining work permits by providing transportation to an agency. Of course, those online articles have been deleted.

Leadership Journal Archive: Debunking the ?E-Verify Error Rate? (http://www.dhs.gov/journal/leadership/2008/05/debunking-e-verify-error-rate.html - broken link)

I do agree with you on enhansing the information on our SS cards including a photo and fingerprints.

It would help getting the ball rolling if these canned workers would protest in the streets demanding rights.
