It is much. much worse. But the question is whether there may be certain areas which for the moment are taboo for the violence. The Golden Dawn is a paid army and they may be following orders to stay out of certain areas. There are areas of Athens that look like a war zone.

At this point, I'm at a lost. Greece is one of the last places I would expect to see this kind of behavior. I did check with the state dept about Greece though.

I wonder who pays Golden Dawn?

If there are certain places where violence isn't allowed, it is a matter of finding out what areas those places are.

Bad enough they are doing this in their own country, I agree. They need to be stamped out in their own country.

Remember, it wasn't too long ago that Greece was ruled by a military Junta. The country has been through a lot. Probably if you go to a Greek forum there will be all kinds of discussion about what is happening, why it is happening, and where things are heading.

In short, the best I can do is give a trip to Greece a try and use common sense.

Can you lead me to the site of one of these Greek forums?

Sorry. Don't frequent any. Once in a while I tune in to one of their news or twitter feeds to get a lowdown on what it is going on Your first and best stop is the American Embassy.
