This is an amnesty bill crafted to its identical twin the 1986 bill that accomplished NOTHING but allowing 12 to 20 million illegals to get into this country. The hispanic voters came from this bill. Now they want a permanent open border for their own kind. Is this what we call "Reform"?

Also from the article -
"If it shatters, (amnesty) the nation will suffer, and the damage to what remains of public faith in Congress will be significant. The damage to the Republican Party probably will be far worse".
The nation will suffer? No, the nation will be better off. Public faith in congress will be restored if they don't give away our country to a bunch of immigration lawbreakers. What damage to the GOP? They wouldn't garner any more of the Hispanic vote by this travesty anyway but they certainly would gain the respect and confidence from loyal, law abiding Americans.
Yes, how can rewarding criminals improve this country?
First they insist we need countless of illegals to do the very low paying jobs that no American would ever want to do, the next thing they insist is we need to reward them all with legal status and US citizenship so they won't have to do those low paying jobs no Americans want to do -- and then they can qualify for more welfare handouts, get a nice social security check for their retirement or at least a nice disability check.
And then they'll insist we need to allow many more millions of new illegals to come and take those jobs that Americans and amnestied illegals don't want to do.
Meanwhile unemployment extensions just keep being added and quality immigrants who would respect our laws are being shut out.

The nation WON'T suffer if a bunch of illegal aliens don't get amnesty.
And add to those at the low end of the economic scale those at the other end with degrees..unlimited green cards and more than double the H1-B visa quota.

Perhaps the government should try to actually enforce the existing laws on the subject instead of "improving" them by passing new laws. They haven't tried that yet.

Reform normally means to improve. Granting a free pass to cheats and criminals is hardly a path to improvement.
The system is greatly flawed. Redundant paper work, needless long waits and overly complicated.
The greatest flaw is lack of enforcement. So like everything or fed does, ignore the actual problem and pass something that will only make things worse.
