against the Germans

From this page (which should be cross checked as it is a wiki)

German Brazilian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The idea of a perigo alemão ("German threat") emerged in Brazil in the late 19th century, the fear of what a “confederacy of German Brazilians” could mean for Brazil and its integration.

Nonetheless, the conservation of the German language among German Brazilians, the isolation of the population in rural areas in Southern Brazil and the small but notorious number of people who were seduced by Germanist ideas seemed to be a problem in the eyes of the Brazilian Government. As a result, policies were implemented to force these people to assimilate. Both the Germanism followed by a few Germans in Brazil and the assimilationist ideology of the Brazilian government were racist.

We see this small mindedness over and over.

Like the people who live in the North of the US who hear of Spanish speaking Texans on the border and it makes them fearful. Oh my!

Silly racism. Interesting to see it happened in Brazil in the late 19th century.

There is nothing racist about wanting our immigration laws enforced or expecting "immigrants" to learn and speak our language. Pulling the race card at every turn is getting nauseating.

You are totally right. It is the law that should matter first. But then, I get the impression that the border laws are irrelevant since the claim continues about The Southwest once belonging to Mexico, and that time warped mindset might be driving the broad disregard for what you state here.

If the "Germans" were so mad about being dumped on in Brazil; they could've gone BACK to Germany. Sheesh!

BTW: I don't think the right word is "racism" since most Germans and many Brazil people are "white".

Mexico needs to get over it since Guatemala did the SAME thing back in the day as in breaking away from Mexico but I never hear any talk about Mexico wanting Guatemala back.

Our government and media are not doing anything at all to promote assimilation.

LOL

As someone who was raised in Brazil, I can't help but laugh at the OP.

The Germans didn't go to Brazil illegally. So your comparison is just ridiculous. Mexican is a race so I am not sure what you are trying to imply. Another silly thread.

Everyday when I think the pro-illegal crowd has used all of their cards to support their sympathy for law breakers, I come across gems like this one posted by the OP.

Agreed tho a "Mexican" is a citizen of Mexico; like Americans and the US, 1 can be of any "race".
