I think it depends more on economic status. If you're poor, you don't want illegals coming in to compete for jobs. If you're rich, you want the illegals in order to get cheap labor, so that you don't have to pay decent wages to Americans.
If you're a politician, you want whatever the particular audience wants while you're speaking.
I don't think gender matters here, but someone else might have a better idea about that. I'd be interested to know what people thought and why.
Yes, I think it should say "I am a man and I am against illegal immigration" and "I am a man and I am for illegal immigration" and then the same two choices regarding women. Something like that, anyway. So there would be four choices.
