In a little-noticed act of political faintheartedness, the Obama administration has pulled back from nominating Thomas Saenz, a highly regarded civil-rights lawyer and counsel to the mayor of Los Angeles, to run the Justice Department’s civil rights division.
Mr. Saenz, the former top litigator in Los Angeles for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, or Maldef, was privately offered the job in January. The floating of his name led to fierce outbursts from anti-immigrant groups and blogs, which detest him for being so good at what he does.
Obama’s Choice Of One Latino Attorney Over Another Leaves Immigration Advocates Sour
Quote:
At a time when Latino and immigration advocates are closely watching every decision coming from the West Wing, President Barack Obama’s appointment last week of a Dominican American attorney from Maryland as head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division has generated complaints and discomfort.
But Thomas Perez, the nominee for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, and until now the Maryland Secretary of Labor, is not the reason for the griping.
Rather, advocates who are weighing Obama’s commitment to immigration reform are angry about the president’s decision to pass over California’s Thomas Saenz, counsel to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and a former vice president of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund (MALDEF.)
If Obama is anything like ANY politician, this isn't the LAST thing that's going to make him 'flinch'....and the lesson is there....you HAVE to make a stand somewhere, and that's going to 'annoy' some people.
Let's hope to God that Obama has decided that maybe the people NOT to annoy are the American voters..(who in THEORY, he works for). It COULD happen...after all, considering the LAST eight years, we deserve someone on our side for a change.

Obama's a politician above and beyond all else. He already got what he needed from the ethnocentrics and the illegal aliens demanding amnesty. With the economy in the toilet, millions of Americans unemployed and the drug cartels spilling over our borders en masse, he realizes that not only would amnesty result in riots and bloodshed throughout this country, but it would also mean the end of his political career.

In all honesty, the crackpot that he did nominate, Tom Perez of Casa de Maryland fame, may not be much of an improvement over the MALDEF Man. When I read things like this I cannot help but think of how completely out of touch our gov. is. Americans are losing jobs, homes and health insurance left and right and all the gov. can think about is placating the illegals and their enablers.
Anyhow, we may not be safe yet.

While no White House officials would talk about the appointment openly, an unidentified White House spokeswoman told the L.A. Times that Saenz remained under consideration for another, unspecified post.
Probably the Head of Border Patrol.

We are so on the same page and ITA with all that you have stated. I've been saying the same thing for quite a while now.
It's time for us to remind them that they are either for the American people or against us. They need to hear the sound of millions of shrill, angry American voices in protest. IMHO, it's long overdue.
How about a "Day without an American" protest I could use a day off.
It's definitely worth considering. One thing's for sure when we do protest, they'll be hearing our voices in their sleep every night, for a very long time.
