So why doesn't the U.S. just incorporate Mexico and then divide it up into some more states?
Problem solved.

No thanks, and it wouldn't solve any problems.

Oh, heck no! We can't afford to support any more of their people as that is part of the problem now. Why would Mexico want this? If we in the US could find a place to dump our poor and criminals, would you want to incorporate that area into our country. Illegals sending funds back is a real cash cow for the Mexican government. At least Mexico knows a good thing when they see it.

Yep... annex a large, mostly 3rd world country in the midst of a massive drug cartel war.

What could possibly go wrong?

No.

Agreed.

Tho with Mexico's birthrate barely above replacement;and, dropping even further, what's NOT Ok in 2015 MIGHT be Ok in 2025 because that country's population WILL be getting old, like Germany and Japan. Too, the drug wars have offed about 100,000 people, mostly dudes there already and, I'm afraid the killings ain't over.

I support annexation but not immediate statehood ... that's something for the distant future. There's simply no other solution to the "Mexico problem" ... it's either annexation or we tolerate a failed nation on our border until the end of time. Mexico has been a failed nation riddled with corruption since day one. Mexico's instability is NOT a result of the "War on Drugs", remember Pershing's expedition? The occupation of Vera Cruz? The Texas war of independence? The US raids into Mexico to go after Indians and bandits in the late 1800s?

Yeah, right. And if we were stupid enough to annex Mexico because it is "a failed nation on our border", then once we annex Mexico, what next? Do we annex Belize and Guatemala so we won't have "failed nation[s] on our border"? And after that, do we annex Honduras and El Salvador? Gee...we might as well annex every single country all the way down to Antarctica

Packard fan, seems like the only one who knows human geography, when Mexico's population equals the average male is 40-42 years or older on average their crime will significantly drop and they will enter the 1st world country status instead of being in the middle of 3rd and first like they are now. Since old people don't commit as much crime, mexico should be annexed and the nice areas of Mexico like Mexico City and burbs should be cleaned up and used as a model for density in the rest of the U.S

Agreed. Tho it'd be MUCH easier to control a border with Guatemala, especially since Mexico's already done the "hard work" in closing it off. Belize; we could use that land and, make it's official language law "US law" since the language is English, NOT Spanish or the Mayan language.
