Why? I am not a Canadian, nor a citizen of any nation in Latin America.

There were no original natives. All of our ancestors that migrated here were immigrants. The past does not negate our right as a nation to have immigration laws today or justify illegal immigration into our country today. Doesn't matter if some are good or bad they are still here in violation of our immigration laws. A good person wouldn't do that, IMO. How do they work if not by using a stolen or fake SS number or working for cash evading taxes which are felonies. Good people do that? Do good people steal jobs, taxes and resources from the rightful citizens of this country who also have families to feed and care for?
Actually I agree with some of that but many of us are not absolutists.

There is plenty of room here for productive, hardworking family oriented citizens. You say we have a shortage of jobs and resources yet where I live there are unfilled jobs everywhere and immigrants occupying 40-50% of service industry jobs, 40-50% of construction jobs, virtually 100% of landscape jobs. Citizens are applying for those jobs.

The US created this problem and then made it worse by leaving the borders open. Same thing happening in Europe right now. That needs to change.

However, let's just say many of us don't agree that every undocumented worker needs to go.

Oh well, become educated and then you won't have that problem. I don't see illegal immigrants working as lawyers, accountants, teachers and counselors.

We have hard working legal immigrants that can become citizens. It's not "immigrants" occupying those jobs but illegal aliens. They have flooded all those jobs by working for less and that is why you are seeing them there not because Americans don't want to do them. They were already doing them for a fair wage before millions of cheap illegals flooded our border.

No such thing as undocumented worker according to our immigration law terminology but yes all illegal aliens need to be sent packing.

I'm guessing you look down on people who are in the trades?

Too; not all Americans have the chops for college; why do wanna try to hurt them with illegal aliens undercutting their kind?

If you did the same with your home and some guy stumbled in and began to sleep on your sofa and you let him stay, it would be hard to make a case 20 years later that he wasn't welcome. This is why I believe the solution to the illegal alien issue is (aside from securing the border) to completely remove all government assistance and enforce E-Verify. I think the problem will solve itself.
Who's "we"? Certainly not regular law abiding Americans. We didn't give our government permission to put out any welcome sign for illegal aliens. They are sworn to uphold our immigration laws. We aren't going to pay for their negligence.

Are you suggesting that all immigrants have committed these crimes?

Or that US citizens don't?

We aren't talking about "immigrants" but illegal aliens. The majority of them are guilty of committing felony ID theft or working for cash evading taxes. When Americans are caught doing that they face justice. Our own home grown criminals do not justify illegal immigration and their crimes. Apparently they don't have to face justice but get stays of deportation instead. I've yet to see one illegal alien taken to court or deported for committing either of those crimes.
