It cost taxpayers an estimated $43.9 billion to educate illegal alien students in the 2015-2016 school year. That ought to give most people pause. 43.9 billion is a lot of money. I don't think anyone should suggest that we turn the children away from the schools, thereby insuring that they will forever be illiterate and mostly a burden on society. So let's agree that they should be educated.
Federation for American Immigration Reform reports on just illegal children. Cubans, for instance are one group who still arrive not knowing much English and they are not included. https://dailycaller.com/2016/09/14/n...iens-annually/
This article points out that 1.9% of children are actually illegal themselves, while 6.9% are the offspring of illegal immigrants. This article will inform you that there are 50M students in the US, K-12. So that means (50M X 1.9% = .950M) 1 million youngsters, are, themselves, here illegally.
This article will tell you that the average cost per student is $11,762 per year.
And this math [ .950 million students X $11,762 = $11.6443 billion] shows that the above figures could be wrong, but not very wrong. Some states spend much more than others to educate children and many of the cheaper states are close to the border, so I am not overly excited about the difference.
Those who overstay a visa more than a year are trapped forever in the US. They will have difficulty in acquiring a visa to enter any other country. The penalty varies by the length of overstay, so some visa violators simply accept the short-term penalty.
Claiming that millions of children of illegals are simply the offspring of visitors who over stayed is ludicrous. https://legalbeagle.com/6328434-pena...ying-visa.html
11 billion; 43.9 billion if you actually research and find the children of illegals. Per year.
You could improve border security A LOT for that kind of savings.

The way I look at it is that having to educate children here illegally is one of the incentives for their parents to bring them here. We need to remove all of the incentives that bring them here. That will discourage illegal immigration in the first place. It's not fair to the taxpayer to have to cover any of the expenses of children here illegally nor their parents. They should be educated and provided for in their own countries not ours. When will this madness end?

It is one of the incentives and is another reason building a wall makes economic sense.
Of course the Left will tell us that $5 Billion is too much for the wall but $43.9 Billion is small potatoes when it comes to educating "the children"....
Our blind generosity will be our undoing and when this country collapses those that are here illegally can go back home but where are the citizens supposed to go? Canada?

No, the left just thinks a wall is not enough. There should be a combination of methods. Not every illegal is coming through the border and even for the ones who are, a wall isn't going to stop all of them. We need to figure out the most effective methods and make use of them.
Maybe Trump just wants a wall so that his contractor friends will like him better and help him with his other construction projects?

Oh, horsepooky. No Lefty is against The Wall because it doesn't go far enough. They're against it because it is not a Democrat idea.
It'll work and it will stop the great majority of illegal migrants before they even leave their country.

YES!!I have been saying this for years. I would argue illegals cost MORE than average because they get all the extra freebies like free and reduced lunch, breakfast, etc. Our school is constantly hawking for donations to help all these people, too. I was at our local high school today waiting for a meeting with a guidance counselor and I noticed a sign saying something along the line of 'If you live in temporary housing (i.e. illegal), you have the right to blah, blah, (insert free stuff here)."

Now California and NYC are going to have free healthcare for illegals.

I think they are against it because AGAIN it is effective.
