No wonder Los Angeles can’t handle its homeless problem.
Los Angeles County paid nearly $1.3 billion in welfare money during 2015 and 2016 to families of illegal aliens. That number amounts to one-quarter of the total spent on the county’s entire needy population.
You hit the nail on the head as to the real cause, something the mainstream news media rather not talk about.
And the federal government cannot spend to hire thousands more ICE agents when its spending is in the billions? Anyone who is here illegally, NO COURT, a couple-few hundred dollars airfare to send them back is cheap with the feds overall budget. And surely some airline is looking for more business to charter aircraft to do it. A matter of months or a couple of years this problem can be taken care of.
But But But that can't be true because "they" tell us that illegal aliens cannot get welfare, food stamps or any other public assistance?? How can this be 1.3 BILLION given to people that don't take welfare and they only want to work and pay taxes??

This was just worked over a few days ago. There is no official pronouncement of any such number. Simply the view of a local politician.
And it involves the standard bad numbers of the right wing. The major item is the money spent on the US citizen who have an illegal parent. And then utterly stupid things like presuming police costs and such are proportionate to population. They are not. If all the illegals went away not a dime would be saved in such areas.
In fact the number of children in school in CA is flat or down over the last decde and is projected to continue decreasing over the next decades.
