It is an insane process which basically leaves us powerless to remove a large part of the illegal population. If you are illegal, and you have children here, your child should also be considered an illegal resident. Sorry if any of you think that's harsh, but at this point I am nearing the end of my rope and I think it's time to act and act with conviction. There is no excuse for millions of Americans to be out of work while just up the street there is a crew of 100 illegals working on a housing complex. It's time to remove the constraints placed on our law enforcement and allow proper action to be taken to reduce the illegal population in the United States. Be they Mexican, African, Canadian, etc..... they must be sent packing.
I couldn't agree more. The abuse of the 14th amendment has allowed those with common genetics and loyalties to their foreign counterparts to high jack our government and this country. Bravo

You cannot blame the deliberate misinterpretation of the 14th, or the enforcement of the laws of this country for the sins and crimes of their deceitful parents. Those who come here illegally, already pregnant/and or who methodically breed on American soil for the purpose of using their children as a source of income and anchoring themselves to this country, are to blame.

I can safely speak for most of us anti illegal types that we have no desire to strip existing Anchor Babies of their citizenship-----------just ones born after an arbitrary date. That stated: if the economy continues to deteriorate; cancelling birthright citizenship may be made retroactive to those extant Anchors age 12 on down (assuming that BOTH parents are here illegally).

To think that two pregnant, migrant woman are at the border, one walks 5 feet over and has the kid here, the other has the birth 5 feet over in Mexico but picks up the child and carries it over.

One is now a US citizen while the other is a Mexican unless they are from say, Argentina then they are still from that Country no matter where they are born.

That is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard of.

[SIZE=2]EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Last week, Representative Leo Berman of Tyler had an argument with a Dallas attorney in the halls of the state capitol after a discussion about illegal immigration.
The attorney called Representative Berman, "evil." Berman told the Chinese-American attorney to, "go home." The bloggers and activists are calling Berman's behavior, "unbecoming of a member of the texas legislature." They are calling for members of the Texas State House to formally condemn his behavior.

From what I understand if correct...any baby born in Mexico is a Mexican Citizen regardless what country the mother is from. Even in transit thru the country the baby is considered a Mexican via birth while the mother can claim citizenship with her own country. The baby will always have Mexican citizenship. My understanding is that a Mexican never loses their citizenship.

Are you sure about that? I really don't think any of these post-65ers should be here, whether or not they have the magic paperwork that makes them "American". Give them a fair market price for their real property, and send them home. Enough is enough. Even with the migrants we already have, the way they and their scions breed, compared to older generation Americans, we will still be headed to a Balkan scenario eventually.

14th Amendment does not "apply to foreigners."

Except it does. Good luck to Mr Berman. He'll need it. In large quantities.

If we want to stop the anchor babies from staying in the country, then let's start a drive to repeal the 14th amendment. It won't be easy, passing Congress and ratified by 38 States. But that part of the Constitution clearly gives them the right to stay here. There is some argument regarding the intent of the amendment, but how can anyone get inside the heads of its long-dead writers? If a future Supreme Court decides it does not apply, we have more to fear than the presence of anchor babies.

That will not happen. It is already practivce and law. The ONLY way any change will come about if an amendment to the Constitution is added to make citizenship for those of citizen parents. And that is not retroactive.

No law will suffice. Trying to get the Supreme Court to even hear a case to try to overturn the 14th is very slim at best. The Court will not even hear a case unless someone can show they were harmed by the Amendment. What basis would anyone have to do that? higher Taxes? Good luck.
