Everyone is saying that e-verify is going to stop the employment of illegal aliens. I disagree.
What the illegal alien does to get around the system is just work under the name of a friend or relative who looks similar or has a similar age. Pedro is illegal and wants to work. Edwardo is a friend or relative of Pedro. He wants Pedro to work and enjoy the American Dream, so he borrows him his Drivers license and social security card and lets Pedro (the illegal) become Edwardo (a legal resident). E-Verify says everything is fine because Edwardo (who Pedro claims to be) is legal.
Sounds like a real hassle but it is done millions of times. How will E-verify help in this situation?
ya, but i think they might have ways to catch people who use other peoples SSN. if for example the SSN is already used at another location, but comes up again it might send up a red flag. sure people have two jobs, maybe even three, but im sure there will be a way to crossreference whow is really working where.

One thing that could put a stop to it is when Eduardo gets a letter from the IRS wanting to know why he didn't claim the extra income on his tax return, or do you think he'll claim it, and pay taxes on Pedro's earnings? If he does claim it, Eduardo probably won't be happy when he finds out that due to the extra income attributed to him, instead of getting money back because he has a couple of kids, he owes money. He's going to be responsible for everything his SS# appears on, so it's a lose, lose situation for him.

If no match keeps showing the dupe social there will be consequences. If he gets a new number and it still keeps happening he'll be talking to a fraud investigator. The American would have to be REALLY stupid to keep doing that.

Being in the age of the micro-processors and hard drives, this is being caught easier than when it was all done on paper with a pen.
Edwardo, will be in a higher tax bracket, and may owe Pedro's taxes, or he could get Edwardo's refund.
