Tulsa World: Why are we importing workers now?

Data shows Americans mostly doing the jobs pro-Illegals say they won't do. 8 million jobs at stake.

It's all about cheap labor. Many employers will not hire Americans because then they have to pay minimum wage, workman's comp, social security and so on.

Also many Americans are receiving unemployment handouts that give them more money than working for lower pay would so they prefer staying unemployed. I can see if someone is supporting a family and a home where giving up the unemployment checks for a low paying job wouldn't be prudent.

So - the big businesses are still bringing in the illegals to work for illegal pay.

Wow ! And I thought only illegal aliens received handouts.....Now that I see that unemployed citizens are just as guilty of taking "handouts", I guess I will not support any legislation or law that provides any sort of support to legal citizens......

Legal citizens, residents and illegal aliens now are equally parasitic....

I never said otherwise. The government is paying millions of Americans not to work and sadly many of those Americans are getting all-too-accustomed to that way of life. Without unemployment checks going out every week however, imagine the public reaction to the planned huge amnesty? People would be very angry to find out that the government is planning to not only legalize millions of illegals who are working American jobs but telling them they can plan to start bringing in many of their long-lost relatives. "Family reunification" you know -- which of course can only take place in the USA.

Maybe it is time to cut off those unemployment extensions............not only would it save the Feds a few dollars---------it may pressure same to really 'crack the whip' against anything pertaining to illegal immigration.

I doubt that will happen....for the very reason You mention.....the last thing the the gov wants is a pissed off populace that will vote them out of office.....
Here in Ca, we are faced with an $ 8 billion budget deficit problem (this after the state fixed it in july) and unemployment benefits are being considered for a reduction....along wit more drastic measures...except one I wonder which one is being avoided.....

And it appears Ca is not alone....
