A half-million citizenship applications have been pending for more than nine months. Some 700,000 illegal alien absconders -- fugitives from deportation like President-elect Barack Obama's aunt Zeituni Onyango -- are free. An estimated 4 million to 5 million illegal visa overstayers from around the world remain in the country.
Both Big Business and left-wing ethnic groups have colluded to prevent an employer verification program for workers' citizenship status from getting implemented nationwide. And the borders are still largely borders in name only.
If the politicians put the financial resources into guarding our ports and borders so that illegal aliens couldn't get in, we wouldn't have a problem. Instead they knowingly allow chaos to happen then throw tax dollars at the problem so, their friends can make money. In the below budget the border patrol gets a pittance of the monies allocated for defending our sovereignty.

So why are they illegal? Why can't anybody have the freedom of going in and out of the country if they please?
They are ILLEGAL because they are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Illegal is in their NAME.
Against the law, breaking the law, violating the law, etc.
As far as giving everyone the freedom to come and go as they please, these people take up our jobs and cost us copious amounts of money, while putting very little into our economy in return. They commit crimes more often than everyone else does. They leech off those of us who have a right to be here.
Think about it from a different perspective - what would happen if we allowed everyone to come and go whenever they chose? 6 billion people in the world....all coming and going to/from the US whenever the hell they felt like it. Do you not see why we can't/shouldn't allow that?

Because no reasonable country would accept the potential for murderers, rapists, diseased persons, gang members, thieves, sexual predators, terrorists, drug smugglers, drug addicts, benefits freeloaders, overbreeders, etc. to enter its country undetected?

I can't even imagine. It's like 'why do thieves and burglars steal'? Why don't we just GIVE them all our 'stuff', so they wouldn't HAVE to steal it? Why not, indeed?
(Don't worry...I won't get into my suggestions on how to reduce rape)...
